Layer Aviary PRO 10
The layer Aviary Pro 10 was developed after long term experience with hens in organic, free range and floor systems. Ease for the birds and the producer was one of the prerequisites for the development of the PRO 10. All tiers have identical accessories, system egg belts, special nest design and compact construction design distinguish this Aviary.
Layer Aviary PRO 11
This layer aviary builds on the proven properties of other systems and is ideal for customers who have higher buildings and who prefer a less intensive investment solution.
Rearing System Pro Pullet
The Hellmann closed housing systems for rearing are designed with the focus on safety and maximum uniformity, easy management and durability. Special attention goes to the details in the system to prevent the birds from injury and getting stuck. A must of course, is a good feed and water supply, for which Hellmann has a range of products, varying from feed chain to travelling hopper and from gravity tanks to auto-flushable pressure regulators that travel up and down with the watering lines. In order to meet different types of rearing programs, Hellmann offers starter rearing aviary for day old chicks to approx.
Enriched / Enrichable Colony Systems
Hellmann was the first company to show an enrichable cage, on “Space” in Rennes, France, in 2000. In many countries worldwide, regulations are being discussed that are to decide the welfare of laying hens. In those countries where the regulations are not yet final, it is very difficult to decide between putting in normal cages or enrichable or even enriched cages. With our experience, we can boast that the technical performance of the enrichable cages almost as good as or as good as those of the non-enrichable cages. Although enrichable cages are usually deeper, which in theory is a disadvantage for egg quality, they are also much higher and offer more space to the birds, which becomes the health of the hens and therefore the egg quality.
Layer cages (not enriched) / Tropical Cage
The Hellmann cage systems for layers are designed for the wellbeing of both the hen and the egg, and they are made of durable material, almost exclusively made in Germany. The wellbeing of the hens is given by designing the cages such that the hens can live in a clean and spacious surrounding, with unlimited access to feed and water. The egg is being treated gently by the flexible suspension of the cage floor that allows the egg to slide out to the egg tray in an as short as possible time. Large breastplates and other accessories help to optimize the egg quality. Options like extra cage height and cage depth, screening off of the manure belts, extra scrapers and many more can increase the technical performance yet again. The cages are available in depths of 50-69 cm (19.7 – 27.1”) and in widths of 50.25 or 60.25 (19.8 or 23.7”) and in different heights, ranging from 40 cm (15.75”) to 52 cm (20.47) at the front.

The cages are available in depths of 45, 63.5 and 76.5 cm (17.7, 25, and 30.1 “) and widths of 48.25 and 96.5 cm (19 and 38”)
Enriched Systems
The choice of which enriched cage should be based on the applicable regulations. In some countries there is no regulation for the amount of trough per bird, or length of perch, sometimes it is not mandatory to have a scratching area. With each set of rules comes a different optimal cage. It doesn’t suffice to just adhere to the rules. The division and location of the enrichments will decide if a cage will later be clean or dirty, or if the egg quality later will be good or bad. Even the type of perch is important for the health of the birds!
Enrichable Layer Cages
For different climatological environments, the cages are available with solid, perforated or wire partitions and in different cage heights. Amongst others, Hellmann offers feed chain or travelling hoppers, the Lift system, invented by Hellmann, or two different types of elevators, many options like automatic flush, egg saver, stepping rails, different typs of inspection carts, manure drying, etc. Of course, Hellmann can also supply controls (ranging from simple control panels to computerized controls with farm management software), feed bins, manure conveyors, lighting systems and ventilation systems.
